Bengaluru: 45-year-old mechanic murdered by three men following an argument

A case has been registered against the three accused, and a search is underway to trace and arrest them.

A 45-year-old mechanic, Rasheed, was allegedly murdered on Sunday, 15 March night in Wilson Garden in Bengaluru by three men following an argument over construction work at his shop. The attack took place in front of his children.

A video purportedly showing the accused hitting the victim with a bat has been circulating on social media.

Police officials said Rasheed had recently renovated his shop. Amid reports that the accused had demanded ₹50,000 as protection money and that his refusal may have led to the attack, police said they are still probing this angle.

A case has been registered against the three accused, and a search is underway to trace and arrest them.

According to The Hindu report, the victim’s brother, Nadeem Pasha, said, “My brother was murdered in front of his two children just for refusing to pay hafta. We want justice.”

The report further said that senior police officials, including Central Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Akshay M. Hakay, visited the spot and inspected the crime scene. The Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) platoons have been deployed as part of preventive measures in the area.
