Breakfast places in Bangalore near me

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, at least that’s what most people say, but if you are anything like me you too are simply lazy and skip it just to avoid cooking early in the morning.

But if you are in Bengaluru, you are definitely in breakfast paradise and all you need to do is get out of your house or just pick up your phone and order.

Start your day by having a hearty breakfast at these breakfast places in Bengaluru:

1) Vidyarthi Bhavan

Sue me, but I have to start with the best one.

Having breakfast at Vidyarthi Bhavan takes me back to every Sunday morning when my mom made the yummiest dosas. The place has a very homely feeling, making it an instant favourite for those who love to eat their meal in a calm environment.

The place, which was set up way back in 1943 as a students eatery (hence the name!), hasn’t changed in years and the walls and tables are decorated to keep the old-school charm intact, ensuring the ambience of the place adds to the food.

Enjoy their plain dosa and masala dosa, and end the meal with a plate of chow chow bath. Or you could have uddin vade (you can have just one piece) and khara bath (uppittu).

If you plan to visit, I suggest you go as early as possible to avoid long lines. The food is delicious and doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket. Win-win I say.

Another affordable breakfast joint in Bengaluru is the Central Tiffin Room — popularly known as CTR — which has been serving since the 1920s.

Their masala dosas are world-famous and worth the hype, and their filter coffee is the perfect partner for any item on their menu.

Along with their breakfast menu, their evening snacks are also all the rage.

“They do have some good breakfast but the line in the morning is very long.  I prefer coming here on my way from work, have a plat of Mangalore Bonda with a good cup of tea and then resume my journey home,” 56-year-old Manjunath, who, without fail, visits Central Tiffin Room for his favourite snack tells South First.

The restaurant — which retains its “heritage” look even today — is always crowded but offers takeaway as well and is available on online food service apps.

On weekends, they serve breakfast until 1 pm, making it the perfect spot for having brunch with your gal pals.

The restaurant has a rustic vibe with old wood tables and brick walls which make you feel like you are having a meal in another time altogether.

4) Asha Tiffins

Students and bachelors living in Bengaluru AECS Layout are pretty familiar with Asha Tiffins.

I recall stepping out one day when I first moved to the city and it was pretty late in the evening. I saw a huge crowd outside a place and mistook the joint for a club but to my surprise, it was Asha Tiffins.

Sahil, who recently moved from Delhi for his IT job in the city, stumbled upon Asha Tiffins when searching for simple homecooked food. He tells South First, “My go-to menu at Asha Tiffins is their vada plate and on days I am feeling light I always have curd rice here. They make really good curd rice.”

The food is great, the service is fast, and it’s very affordable. They also have good options for meals, making it the ideal spot for students looking for some cheap yet delicious grub.

5) India Coffee House

The iconic India Coffee House which was set up in 1972 was recently renovated. It is still true to its taste but the place has now been elevated to another level.

What makes the place iconic is the servers wearing authentic uniforms, a rare sight in these modern times.

Ajit Kumar, the assistant secretary at India Coffee House spoke to South First, saying, “We have served tea and coffee to politicians, bureaucrats and now, we have renovated ourselves to include the younger generation to that list. We are looking to experiment with new ideas for the menus and are even training our staff for the same.”

The place brews its own coffee and is a great hub for business meetings and the ideal place to catch up with old friends and colleagues.

If you are looking to grab a cup of coffee at a place that takes you back in time, or you are a sucker for nostalgia and the “good old days”, the warm vintage ambience at India Coffee House will not disappoint you.
