Synopsis: A 32-year-old woman from Maharashtra, Gauri Anil Sambrekar, was found dead and stuffed in a suitcase in the bathroom of a flat within Bengaluru’s Hulimavu police limits on Thursday. Her husband, Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar, has been taken into custody for questioning as police continue to investigate the suspected murder.
Police in Bengaluru discovered the body of a 32-year-old woman inside a suitcase, on Thursday, 27 March, in the bathroom of within the Hulimavu Police Station limits.
The victim has been identified as Gauri Anil Sambrekar, who was married to 36-year-old Rakesh Rajendra Khedekar.
The couple originally hail from Maharashtra and had been living in an apartment building in Doddakammanahalli for the one-and-half months, according to the Indian Express.
“We received a call from the control room around 5.30pm today, and our team rushed to the spot,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East), Sarah Fathima, told South First.
“We have taken her husband into custody for questioning. The reasons behind this alleged murder are yet to be known. The deceased was a homemaker and her husband worked with a private firm. The body was found in a suitcase kept in a bathroom.”
She added that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and the couple’s relatives have been informed.
A forensic team is present at the scene, gathering evidence and to analyse the circumstances surrounding the incident.
