Investigation ongoing

According to the police, Amrita and Dhanush were from the same neighbourhood and their families knew each other through community and religious gatherings. The two later entered into a relationship.

The investigation has found that Amrita allegedly ended the relationship after learning that Dhanush had concealed his previous marriage, subsequent divorce and that he had a child, police said. Following which, she had distanced herself from him.

Police said Surya, Dhanush’s younger brother, allegedly threatened Amrita over her decision to end the relationship. Investigators are probing whether the threat was directly linked to the subsequent attack.

The investigation is continuing, and the police have not announced whether any additional charges will be invoked following Amrita’s death.
