Synopsis: Chief Minister DK Shivakumar will mark 100 days in office on Thursday, 10 September, with a programme showcasing his government’s initiatives and guarantee schemes, even as the BJP has branded the milestone “100 days of failure”.
Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is set to mark 100 days in office on Thursday, 10 September, with a programme aimed at showcasing his government’s performance, even as the Opposition BJP has sought to turn the milestone into a political “chargesheet” against his administration.
Shivakumar has invited his predecessor, Siddaramaiah, to inaugurate the programme, placing the former chief minister prominently at an event celebrating the new government’s first major milestone.
The programme is expected to be held at Vidhana Soudha on Thursday morning, where Shivakumar will interact with beneficiaries of the Congress government’s flagship guarantee schemes.
Ministers, Congress legislators, government officials and beneficiaries are expected to participate in the programme.
Government sources said Shivakumar is likely to showcase the initiatives undertaken during his first 100 days in office and lay out his administration’s priorities for the next phase of its tenure.
The five guarantee schemes introduced during Siddaramaiah’s tenure continue to remain a major focus of the government. The Shivakumar administration is also expected to highlight infrastructure projects and newer initiatives, including the Praja Seva Department, created to strengthen grievance redressal and citizen services.
The ruling party is also anticipating fresh announcements to coincide with the milestone.
According to reports, Kunigal Congress MLA HD Ranganath has indicated that the government could make major announcements for farmers, while initiatives related to education and health are also expected.

The BJP, however, has questioned what the government has to celebrate.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka termed the planned celebration a “100-day chargesheet”, accusing the Shivakumar government of failing on several fronts.
In a post on X, Ashoka cited the absence of women in the 33-member Cabinet, allegations of government recruitment irregularities, delays in drought relief and welfare payments, Bengaluru’s civic woes, concerns over the Bidadi township, and the government’s withdrawal of the parks amendment Bill.
“This is not a 100-day Sadhana Samavesha. It is a 100-day chargesheet,” Ashoka said, arguing that the government should instead answer questions concerning farmers, women, employment and Bengaluru’s infrastructure.
BJP state president BY Vijayendra has separately described the administration as a “U-turn government”, pointing to a series of decisions that were subsequently altered or withdrawn.
Among them, Vijayendra cited the government’s withdrawal of amendments to the Karnataka Government Parks (Preservation) Act, as well as its decision to increase the number of drought-affected taluks after criticism.
“What have they achieved?” Vijayendra asked while questioning the need for a 100-day celebration.
Shivakumar took oath as Karnataka’s Chief Minister on 3 June, succeeding Siddaramaiah following the Congress leadership transition.
Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah also discussed the upcoming election for president of Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank, scheduled for September 10.
Siddaramaiah’s loyalist KN Rajanna (Madhugiri MLA) and Shivakumar’s relative S Ravi (MLC) are seen as the frontrunners. Former ministers Shivanand Patil and Shivaram Hebbar are seen as contenders.

Thursday’s programme will therefore serve both as a government report card and a political messaging exercise, with Shivakumar seeking to set out his agenda beyond the first 100 days.
For the Opposition, however, the same milestone has provided an opportunity to set up competing narratives on the promises made and the ground reality during the first 100 days of Shivakumar’s tenure.
