10-Acre Constructed Wetland Developed Near Jakkur Lake Under Brand Bengaluru

As part of the Brand Bengaluru initiative, BBMP has developed a 10-acre constructed wetland near Jakkur Lake in Byatarayanapura to treat 7 million litres of wastewater daily before it enters the 163-acre lake.

Previously under BDA’s custody, the lake was handed over to BBMP in 2015. Thirty encroached acres were reclaimed and fenced. With a ₹5 crore budget, BBMP removed slush and deepened the wetland six months ago. The artificial wetland will filter solids, reduce nitrogen and potassium levels, and improve dissolved oxygen. More plants will be added to further enhance water quality.
