The Telangana Medical Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB) has released a recruitment notification to fill 1,147 vacancies for assistant professors in various specialties under the Director of Medical Education (DME).
However, the various doctors’ associations in the state have said the number of vacancies being filed by the government is still less than what the Finance Department notified in March 2022 under DME.
“Around 47 vacancies are missing in the notification released by the MSRP. In March, the Finance Department has accorded 1,194 Assistant professors vacancies in the state, but the government has notified only 1,147 vacancies,” Dr K Mahesh Kumar, president, Healthcare Reforms Doctors Association, told South First.
He added that there several departments in which the government has not notified of vacancies.
“Departments such as pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, neonatology, pain and palliative care, surgical oncology, gynaecology, and oncology. The DME in its reply to a writ petition in the court mentioned 17 vacancies in the Department of Pharmacology for direct recruitment, but the government has not notified them,” said Dr Mahesh Kumar.
For the notified 1,147 posts, online applications will be start on 20 December and the last date for submission is 5 January, 2023. The notification stated that the applicants should possess a minimum age of 18 years and cannot exceed a maximum age of 44 years.
The online application fee is ₹500 and processing fee is ₹200, both of which have to be paid online.
The applicants will be selected based on 100 points out of which 80 will be awarded for marks obtained in the qualifying exam and 20 will be awarded for service in state government hospitals/institutions/programmes on contract/outsourced basis.
Out of the 20 points for contract-based doctors, 2.5 points will be awarded for every six months of service in tribal areas, and two points for every six months of service rendered in places other than tribal areas
The government has also clearly mentioned that the selected candidates will not be allowed private practise.
“The candidates recruited are not eligible for private practise,” said the notifications.
In June 2022, the Telangana government had imposed a total ban on private practise by doctors recruited by the state government through the direct recruitment route.
