No need to panic

In presenting detailed information on the JN.1 variant, state Health Department officials reassured the public that there is no need to panic, as those infected are recovering without complications. Although the variant exhibits symptoms similar to the Delta variant, it is characterised by rapid expansion.

Individuals displaying symptoms are undergoing tests in government hospitals, with positive samples analysed at the Vijayawada Genome Lab. Rapid testing kits have been distributed to village and ward secretaries, contributing to the identification of new variants.

“Senior officials should create awareness among the staff of village clinics and secretariats about identifying the features of the new variant and about taking preventive measures,” Chief Minister Jagan told officials.

In line with proactive measures, the government is enhancing the oxygen infrastructure. PSA plants are ensuring a continuous supply, and preparations include the availability of oxygen concentrators, D-type cylinders, and 56,741 oxygen beds.

The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of preemptive measures. Officials stated that doctors have reassured the public that there is no need to worry about the variant, and attention should be directed towards proactive measures.

Village/ward secretariats and village clinics are being alerted, and staff at village clinics are being educated about new variant symptoms and appropriate actions.

The Chief Minister has issued orders to implement teaching through Artificial Intelligence in government medical colleges to enhance medical education and preparedness.
