Veteran actor Ghattamaneni Krishna, who is fondly referred to as Superstar, is on a ventilator after suffering a heart attack.

The 79-year-old actor is undergoing treatment at Continental Hospitals in Hyderabad. He was brought to the hospital by his family members at around 2 am on Monday, 14 November, after he had complained of chest pain.

Doctors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Krishna immediately after he was brought to the hospital and stabilised his condition. But he was later shifted to ICU and put on a ventilator, as his health was still stated to be in a critical condition.

“Actor Krishna was brought to the hospital around 2 AM. Our doctors immediately performed CPR for about 20 minutes and brought him out of cardiac arrest,” Dr Guru N Reddy, Chairman and MD of Continental Hospitals, told the media.

“We restored his heart rhythm after cardiac arrest, but his condition is still critical. He is put on a ventilator and a  team of expert doctors is monitoring him round the clock. The next 24 to 48 hours are going to be critical,” he added.

Gurunath Reddy stressed that every hour counts during emergencies and they will get clarity on Krishna’s health after seeing how his body is responding to the treatment. He added that the hospital would release a health bulletin on the actor’s health on Tuesday afternoon.
