Synopsis: Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, fondly called ‘Balayya’, received the Lifetime Achievement Award at International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026 held in the national capital, honouring his five-decade career and over 100 films. The event also celebrated Sharmila Tagore and late Dharmendra.
Telugu film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, popularly known as ‘Balayya’, was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026.
The award recognises his remarkable five-decade-long contribution to Indian cinema, spanning over 100 films across action, mythological, and drama genres.
The ceremony, held at Bharat Mandapam and inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Wednesday, 25 March, also honoured veterans Sharmila Tagore and the late Dharmendra with Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Balakrishna received his honour from the Delhi CM amidst applause from the star-studded gathering. The event underscored the rich legacy of Indian cinema, bridging Bollywood and South Indian industries.
Balakrishna, son of legendary actor and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister NT Rama Rao, made his debut as a child artist and rose to stardom with blockbuster hits like Akhanda. Known for his powerful screen presence, intense dialogues, and dance moves, he remains a massive draw in Telugu cinema.
His daughter, Nara Brahmani, shared an emotional reaction on X, posting: “Watching my father receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFD Delhi was a moment of pure pride. Dad your, unwaering passion and discipline have not only shaped cinema but have inspired millions – myself included. This honor is a beautiful testament to a lifetime of hard work and heart. So well deserved!”
