Hyderabad FC vs Bengaluru FC

Manolo Marquez is well aware of the threat FC Goa can pose to his squad, the Hyderabad FC.

The head coach has been closely monitoring the Goan side, their players, and play style.

“Goa is a well-balanced side and has made a strong start to the current campaign. We all know that Carlos Pena (FC Goa coach) has a style of play that is hard to match. But we will try our best to find solutions and have a strong game,” he told South First.

The Spaniard agreed that both sides have similar playing styles, ball control, and movement. Individual players, too, are equally skilled.

“The Goan side can defend, attack, counter-attack and they are a complete team,” Marquez said.

The two teams will clash in the Indian Super League (ISL) at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Gachibowli on Saturday, 29 October.

Both the teams are on an unbeaten streak, and a win for either Hyderabad FC and FC Goa would place them on the top of the table.

With two wins and a draw, the start to the campaign has been smooth so far for the Nizams, who have seven points and stand third in the eleven-teams table behind Odisha FC and Mumbai City FC.

On the other hand, FC Goa is the only side that is yet to drop a point in the tournament.

Nicknamed Gaurs (after the Indian bison), they are right behind the HFC at the fourth place in the table with six points.

FC Goa is also one of the three clubs — ATK Mohun Bagan and Jamshedpur FC are others — in the league, which has played a game less than the other teams.

“We are at the beginning stage of the tournament. We are happy with seven points but we know that every game is very important. This game will be competitive and we know we have to push ourselves from kick-off itself,” Marquez said.

Players to watch out

The defending champions, HFC, is pinning their hopes on talismanic forwards Javi Siverio and Bartholomew Ogbeche. The latter has already netted twice this season.

Other players include goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani, who now has consecutive clean sheets, full-backs Akash Mishra and Nikhil Poojary, solid center-back pair of Odei Onaindia and Chinglensana Singh, midfielders Mohammad Yasir, Halicharan Narzary and Joao Victor.

With some exciting signings this season, Moroccan midfielder Noah Sadaoui is a player to watch out for in the FC Goa’s squad along with Redeem Tlang from Shillong and Spanish forward Iker Guarrotxena.

Goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh has conceded only once so far and is backed by a strong defense line of Marc Hernandez and Anwar Ali.

The Gaurs have one of the best midfielders in the league led by veteran Edu Bedia, who is assisted by Brandon Fernandes and Glen Martins.
