A unique exhibition on 29 November, Wednesday, saw 15 Lantana elephants on display outside the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs, Legislation & Tourism HK Patil inaugurated the exhibit. "Our state is also home to the maximum number of elephants compared to any state. Finding ways in which humans and elephants can coexist peacefully is very important, and I am sure this project will be a great success," Patil said at the event. Organised by Coexistence Collective - a range of conservation organisations promoting human-wildlife coexistence, the elephants will be on display for the next five days. These models also serve in the removal of invasive weeds from the forest and provide indigenous communities with a livelihood. Close to 150 indigenous people in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka have come together to make Lantana elephants and other crafts. The event is also a precursor to the launch of 100 Lantana elephants that are coming to Bengaluru between 15 January and 15 February, across multiple green spaces in the city.
