Fashion designer Sonam Dubal will unveil ‘The Golden Thread’ collection in Chennai this December. The collection will grace the stage at Amethyst, Royapettah, from 15-25 December, 2023.

The designer skillfully intertwines tales of culture, heritage, and sustainability through his label, Sanskar. His journey commenced in 1990 upon graduating from the National Institute of Fashion Technology.  Eventually, it culminated in the launch of Sanskar in 1999. It was a step towards revitalising traditional Indo-Asian silhouettes.

A unique fashion identity

Dubal’s collection weaves together Eri silk from Assam, Khadi cotton, handloom weaves, and upcycled vintage silks. They are all intricately crafted with a strong emphasis on sustainability. This blend of heritage textiles forms the very essence of Sanskar’s identity.

Awards and accolades have adorned his path, culminating in the recent Forces of Fashion award by Vogue in November 2023.

“The Forces of Fashion award by Vogue in recognition of my contribution to the Indian Fashion Industry has been overwhelming and deeply humbling. I dedicate this award to the young people in the hills of the Northeast, to believe in their dreams, my eclectic friends and family and beautiful loyal patrons,” says Dubal.
