Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot presented 25 people with the Champions of Change Karnataka Award. The ceremony was held at Radisson Blu Bengaluru Outer Ring Road on Tuesday.
The event honoured eminent personalities for their work towards promoting community service and inclusive social development.
The recipients of the award organized by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy included Bharat Ratna CNR Rao (Indian Chemist), Padma Vibhushan S M Krishna (27th External Affairs Minister, 18th Governor of Maharashtra & 10th Chief Minister of Karnataka), Padma Vibhushan Dr. D Veerendra Heggade (MP), Padma Shri Tulsi Gowda (Indian Environmentalist), Padma Shri Manjamma Jogathi (Folk Artist), Shri Tejasvi Surya (MP), Shri Venkatesh Prasad (Indian Former Cricketer & Coach), Shri Vishnuvardhan (Posthumous, Kannada Actor), Dr. V Ravichandran (Kannada Actor & Director), Khusboo Yadav (CEO, Jio Entertainment Services), Prithvi Raj Singh (Founder, Gameskraft Technologies Pvt. Ltd.) and Anand Sankeshwar (MD, VRL Logistics).
Speaking at the event, Gehlot highlighted the importance of prioritizing the welfare of others over personal gains.
“Those who prioritise the welfare of others over personal gain serve as role models for the development of society,” he said. He also congratulated all the awardees and asked them to continue doing good work for the society.
Jury Chairman KG Balakrishnan said that every possible effort should be to encourage generosity in the society.
Other distinguished guests and dignitaries included vice-chairperson of the award selection committee and former Supreme Court judge, Justice Gyan Sudha Mishra; President of the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, Advocate Nandan Jha; Shyam Jaju (Former National Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party) and Dayakar Ratakonda (Former Indian Ambassador) who were present as advisors to the award selection committee.
Champions of Change Karnataka Award recognises champions who have contributed to constructive departments of education, health, technology, & science. It also honors those who have made contributions to the welfare of women and children.
