Director Antony Bhagyaraj, who helmed actor Jayam Ravi’s upcoming action entertainer Siren, says that the decision to feature the actor as an ambulance driver was because of an incident that occurred in his (former’s) life.

Talking exclusively to South First, Antony Bhagyaraj disclosed that he was inspired by the behaviour of an ambulance driver whom he chanced to meet.

Explaining the incident, the director recalled, “An incident that happened in my life had a profound impact on me. We were rushing my sister to the hospital and an ambulance driver was helping us take her there. Even while rushing through traffic, the ambulance driver took a second to say a prayer as we passed a temple for my sister.”

He added, “I was stunned. I wondered who he was since he was wholeheartedly wishing to save his patients. So, when I decided to make a film, I wanted my hero’s character to be fashioned after the driver’s characteristics.”

Siren, produced by Home Movie Makers Sujatha Vijaykumar, has Jayam Ravi sporting a salt-and-pepper look for the first time in his career.

Recently, the film unit released the teaser which gives away the fact that Jayam Ravi, an ambulance driver, gets released from prison on parole after 14 years.

The teaser also shows Keerthy Suresh playing a police inspector in the movie, which the makers say is likely to be released in December this year.
