Uday Kiran's Nuvvu Nenu re-release

Nuvvu Nenu and Manasantha Nuvve, the late actor Uday Kiran’s early films, were consecutive blockbusters at the Telugu box office in the year 2001. The projects brought good profits to the producers.

Despite his untimely and mysterious death in 2014, Uday Kiran continues to entertain Telugu audiences through his songs and films.

As his blockbuster hit Nuvvu Nenu is being re-released in theatres on 21 March, the response to the advance bookings seems pretty dull.

Despite being re-released in numerous theatres in the Telugu states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the response to the movie isn’t meeting expectations.

This has sparked discussions on social media. The lack of proper promotion for the re-release seems to be a major setback.

In a few rural districts, Nuvvu Nenu is being screened in limited theatres. If bookings improve, theatre owners may come forward to increase the number of shows.

One has to wait and see how the collections for the movie Nuvvu Nenu would be.

But Uday Kiran’s die-hard fans are keen to watch the film in theatres. There are chances of re-release of some more movies of Uday Kiran in the coming days.

Recent re-releases have seen mixed responses from youth.

While Balakrishna’s Samara Simha Reddy (1999) failed to impress audiences, actor Siddharth’s Oy! (2009) was enjoyed in theatres recently. It is observed that youngsters tend to prefer musical hits, especially those in the rom-com genre.

Directed by Teja, Nuvvu Nenu catapulted Uday Kiran to stardom in 2001.

Following the film’s major success, Uday Kiran reached the status of a medium-range Telugu actor in Tollywood.

Unfortunately, his career stagnated thereafter.

His anticipated marriage to Chiranjeevi’s daughter was not fruitful, plunging him into depression. Tragically, he died by suicide a decade later.
