The Tamil film industry, which did not witness a cracker of collections at the box office this Diwali, is looking forward to the release of a host of movies, including Mysskin’s Pisasu 2, Vishal’s Laathi and Jayam Ravi’s Agilan.
Among the films lined up for release in November, all bets are on Mysskin’s Pisasu 2. It is a sequel to the 2014’s blockbuster horror film Pisasu, written and directed by Mysskin.
The intense teaser and trailer, released in April and June, respectively, took the internet by storm.
Andrea Jeremiah is playing the central role in his horror flick, while Vijay Sethupathi is doing an extended cameo. It also has Rajkumar Pitchumani, Shamna Kasim, Namitha Krishnamurthy and Santhosh Prathap as supporting cast.
Produced by T Muruganantham under the banner of Rockfort Entertainment, Pisasu 2 is likely to be released on 30 November.
Next in line is Vishal’s Laathi which is all set for a grand release on 15 November.
A directorial venture of A Vinoth Kumar, the film stars Prabhu and Sunaina in key roles. Ramana and Nandaa are producing it under the banner of Rana Productions.
Vishal’s fans are going gaga over the stunt sequences choreographed by Peter Hein for this action thriller. Trade hopes that Laathi will do well at the box office, unlike the previous releases of the actor.
Comic hero Santhanam, who has been trying his luck at the box office, is pinning his hopes on Agent Kannayiram. A detective comedy thriller, the movie is hitting the silver screen on 25 November.
It is a remake of the Telugu film Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya (2019), co-written and directed by Swaroop RSJ. This Navin Polishetty-starrer, a decent no-frills detective story, had set the cash registers ringing in Tollywood.
Director Manoj Beedha felt that the movie has the potential to click in Tamil, provided the pace is increased and more commercial elements are added.
Agent Kannayiram features Riya Suma as the female lead and Sruthi Hariharan, Munishkanth, and Redin Kingsley in prominent roles.
C Sundar is coming up with a medium-budget film titled Coffee with Kadhal. It has Jiiva, Jai, Srikanth, Malvika Sharma, Amritha Aiyer, and Raiza Wilson in the lead roles.
Veteran actor Khushbu Sundar, ACS Arun Kumar, and AC Shanmugam are jointly producing it under Anvi Cinemax and Benzz Media (P) Ltd banners.
Yuvan Shankar Raja composed the music for this romcom family drama. Red Giant Movies is distributing it.
The makers initially planned the release in July but put it off until October due to a delay in post-production works. However, Coffee with Kadhal’s release was postponed again due to PS-1. It is finally making it to the theatres on 4 November.
Nayanthara and Sathyaraj’s Connect is likely to be released in theatres in November. The film is produced by Nayan and Vignesh Shivan’s own production house, Rowdy Pictures.
Ashwin Saravanan of Game Over fame is the director. The makers initially planned to release this horror movie on an OTT platform.
Connect marks the return of Bollywood actor Anupam Kher to Tamil cinema. He earlier appeared in Welcome Back Gandhi in 2012.
Director Ra. Karthik is debuting with a romantic drama titled Nitham Oru Vaanam on 4 November. It casts Ashok Selvan, Ritu Varma and Aparna Balamurali in prominent roles.
Pradeep Ranganathan’s Love Today, too, is hitting the cinema halls on 4 November. The director is playing the lead role in this romantic comedy.
It also features Sathyaraj, Yogi Babu, Ivana, Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena in key roles.
