Watchlist: Must-watch Kannada films hitting the screens in September

Here's the list of a couple of much-awaited Kannada movies that are expected to make it big at the box office this month.

Lucky Man

This romantic comedy entertainer is a remake of the Tamil film Oh My Kadavule. S Nagendra Prasad is the director. PR Meenakshi Sundaram and R Sundara Kamaraj are producing it under the banner of Parsa Pictures.

The flick features Puneeth Rajkumar, Darling Krishna, Sangeeta Singeri and Roshni Prakash in lead roles. The other cast includes Nagabhushana, Arya, Sundar Raj, Sadhu Kokila and Rangayana Raghu. V2 Vijay Vicky composed the music.

Lucky Man is special for all Kannada movie buffs as it marks one of the final few onscreen appearances by late actor Puneeth Rajkumar. He will be seen in an extended cameo and dancing alongside Prabhu Deva.

Padma Shri is also making a special appearance. It is releasing in theatres on 9 September.

Once Upon A Time in Jamaligudda

Once Upon A Time in Jamaligudda is a directorial venture of Kushal Gowda. It features Dhananjaya, Aditi Prabhudeva, Prakash Belawadi, Bhawana Ramanna, Yash Shetty and Prakash Shenoy in lead roles.

Sri Hari is producing this romantic thriller under the banner of Daali Pictures. Its story revolves around a fictional place called Jamaaligudda. The film is releasing on 9 September.

This is the second movie by director Kushal. He debuted with Kannadakkagi Ondannu Otti, a thriller released in 2018, which drew critical applause and a positive response from viewers.

Kantara

Writer-director Rishab Shetty’s upcoming film Kantara is a sports drama releasing on 30 September. Rishab Shetty, Kishore, Achuth Kumar, Sapthami Gowda and Pramod Shetty will be seen in the lead roles.

Vijay Kiragandur produced it under the Hombale Films banner. B Ajaneesh Loknath composed its music and background score.

Rishab Shetty made an acting debut in 2013 with Attahasa but became the protagonist with Bell Bottom. Kantara is his fourth film as a male lead. He also debuted in Telugu cinema (cameo) this year with Taapsee Pannu-starrer Mishan Impossible.

Rishab’s 2021-film Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana won several nominations for Critics Choice Awards and SIIMA. Following this, Kantara is drawing high expectations from the critics and audience alike.
