It’s already August and a host of Kannada movies are all set to hit the silver screens in this month. Without much wait, check the list of five major releases you wouldn’t want to give a miss.
Abbara is an action entertainer featuring Prajwal Devaraj, Rajshri Ponnappa, Nimika Ratnakar and Lekha Chandra in lead roles. P Ravishankar is the antagonist.
It is directed by K Ramnarayan and produced by Basavaraj Manchaiah. KGF-fame Ravi Basrur is the music director.
Prajwal is touted to be seen in six different looks in the film, being released on 12 August.
Gaalipata 2 is a sequel to the 2008 released Gaalipata. This rom-com is directed by Yogaraj Bhat and produced by Ramesh Reddy.
The movie has Ganesh, Anant Nag, Dignath, filmmaker Pawan Kumar, Vaibhavi Shandilya and Samyuktha Menon and in lead roles.
Arjun Janya composed the music for this project, which is releasing on 12 August.
Ravi Bopanna is an investigative thriller featuring actor-director Ravichandran, Sudeep, Ramya Krishnan and Kavya Shetty.
Ravichandran will be seen as a retired police officer in this film, the story of which revolves around organ trafficking.
This is the 50th venture of Eswari Production and has been helmed by Ravichandran himself. It is up for release on 12 August.
Ramesh Aravind, Radhika Narayan and Vinayak Joshi-starre Shivaji Surathkal 2 is a sequel to Shivaji Surathkal: The Case of Ranagiri Rahasya, which did quite well at the box office in 2020.
This crime thriller is directed by Akash Srivatsa and produced by Anup Gowda and Rekha KN under Anjanadri Cine Creations.
Nakul Abhayangar is the music director. This is Ramesh Aravind’s 103rd movie. It is hitting the big screens on 15 August.

Gowli is an action thriller featuring Srinagar Kitty and Pavana Gowda in the lead roles.
A directorial venture of Soora, it is being produced by Raghu Singham under the banner of Sohan Film Factory.
Srinagar Kitty’s rugged look created quite a sensation when the film’s poster was launched a few months ago.
The movie, touted to be an adaptation of Vikings, is being released on 17 August.
