Gangs of Godavari box-office collection

After the success of Gaami (2024), Vishwak Sen has once again struck gold with Gangs of Godavari.

The movie hit the theatres on 31 May, along with Kartikeya’s Bhaje Vaayu Vegam and Anand Deverakonda’s Gam Gam Ganesha.

With no significant competition from other films, Gangs of Godavari is maintaining a respectable occupancy rate and box-office collection. However, its performance in the Telugu states during the upcoming weekdays will be crucial to gauge its overall success.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, the movie—written and directed by Krishna Chaitanya—continues to draw audiences to theatres.

Due to the lack of adequate attention garnered by the first instalment, there remains uncertainty surrounding the possibility of producing a sequel.

Critics suggested that with greater emphasis on its screenplay, Gangs of Godavari could have evolved into a robust gangster drama.

One of the major criticisms aimed at the Telugu movie is the slow-paced narration and the director’s inability to effectively elevate the scenes.

Also starring Neha Sshetty, Anjali, Nasser, Sai Kumar, and Goparaju Ramana, the film was produced by S Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under their Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas banners.

In a recent interview, Vishwak expressed that his role in Gangs of Godavari is the most fulfilling of his career so far, stating, “I enjoy pushing boundaries and exploring diverse character portrayals.”

In this action-packed thriller, Vishwak Sen embodies an intense persona, depicting a young political figure driven by lofty aspirations.

The film features a musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja and is edited by Navin Nooli.
