Vishwak Sen upset with negative campaigning against 'Gaami'

The emerging young hero in Tollywood, Vishwak Sen, has claimed to be a victim of negative campaigning.

His latest film Gaami received mixed feedback and exceeded initial expectations by collecting up to ₹20 crore in its opening weekend.

The film continues to maintain a decent performance even beyond the weekend.

However, Vishwak Sen alleged that some miscreants reduced the rating of Gaami BookMyShow.

He claimed that the overall rating of the flick was impacted due to the negative reviews by audiences.

In a statement, the actor wrote: “It has come to my notice that there have been persistent attacks on the film’s reputation on platforms like BookMyShow. With numerous bots unfairly giving it a rating of 1 out of 10. This malicious behaviour is evident when genuine ratings of 9 or 10 suddenly drop to 1.”

However, he expressed his “gratitude to those who have supported quality cinema during its release.”

He also extended thanks to “media, critics and most importantly, the audience for contributing to the tremendous success of Gaami.

Further, the actor threatened to initiate a legal route against the miscreants.

Gaami got 7.9/10 rating with over 36,000 reviews on the ticket booking app. In Hyderabad, the film is trending with over 6.02k tickets being booked in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, netizens appealed to Vishwak Sen to maintain his cool.

Film buffs opined that if his film was outstanding, people themselves would own it, and Gaami would have reached the public through word-of-mouth by now.

Recently, social media has witnessed a surge in negative campaigning surrounding popular movies of big stars.

There are allegations that the negative campaigning was intentionally aimed at certain celebrities. This is purportedly done to bolster their interests if rival films suffer at the box office.

It was alleged that Mahesh Babu’s movie Guntur Kaaram, released for Sankranthi this year, reportedly received zero ratings on BookMyShow through paid accounts.

This sparked discussions about a conspiracy to tarnish the image of the Superstar and his movie with poor ratings.

The Guntur Kaaram team was ready to take action in response, but they could not find the leaks and sources from where all this negativity came.
