Madha Gaja Raja to release on 12 January

Actor Vishal’s film Madha Gaja Raja, which completed shooting in 2013, has finally locked a release date— January 12. Initially planned for a Pongal 2013 release, the film will hit the big screen for Pongal 2025.

The film directed by Sundar C is touted to be a comedy entertainer. Apart from Vishal, the film also stars Santhanam, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Anjali and others playing prominent roles. It is produced by Gemini Film Circuit.

According to earlier reports, the film’s script had a triple role for Vishal, but eventually, it was altered to him playing a single role, with two female leads.

In the past 12 years, the film has faced many issues, such as financial problems, clashes with other films, and legal hurdles, which have resulted in never-ending delays.

The release of the decade-old film can also be seen as a result of the postponement of Ajith’s big-ticket film Vidaa Muyarchi.

Apart from Madha Gaja Raja, the Pongal weekend will see around six films, including Jayam Ravi and Nithya Menen’s Kadhalikka Neramillai and Shane Nigam’s Tamil debut Madraskaaran.

Sharing the update, Santhalan, wrote on X: “Kings of Entertainment Vishal, Sundar C, a Vijay Antony Musical, are all set to make this Pongal a Laughter Festival. Gemini Film Circuit’s Madha Gaja Raja worldwide release on Jan 12.”

In August 2024, following the success of Aranmanai 4, the director noted that he would revive the film, and also suggested that he and Vishal will take over the film from the producers. He further noted that Madha Gadha Raja will still entertain the audience, even though it was shot a decade ago.

It has cinematography by Richard M Nathan and editing by Praveen KL and NB Srikanth. The music was composed by Vijay Antony.
