Ahimsa Entertainment — which holds the theatrical rights for director Lokesh Kanakaraj’s upcoming film Leo in the UK and Europe — announced that the movie has now set a new pre-release record in the UK.
The distribution firm claimed that an impressive 10,000+ tickets were booked for the film within a day, 42 days before the global release of Leo. The movie features actor Vijay in the lead.
To give an idea of how substantial this volume of sales was, Ahimsa said that its previous film Varisu (2023) sold around 2000 tickets in the first 24 hours of pre-booking in January 2023.
WHOA! We set the stage, but you stole the show! Over 10k tickets sold in under 24 hours, crossing £100k in sales.. feeling the MASS? 🙌
The love you’ve shown for #LEO in UK has left us speechless. Oct 19 is our day to celebrate #Thalapathy. Let’s make it unforgettable! ❤️🥺 pic.twitter.com/so9T6rGvTr

What is interesting to note is that Ahimsa Entertainment chose to start pre-bookings six weeks before Leo‘s release. This unprecedented move seems to be paying off, with Leo now holding the title of being the first Indian film to open bookings this early in the UK.
Ahimsa Entertainment has a proven track record of distributing Indian films abroad. They distributed Vijay’s Beast (2022) in the US which not only became a significant hit but also the actor’s highest-grosser in the country.
Similarly, their release of Varisu in the UK achieved the same milestone — with the project becoming yet another top earner for the actor in the region.
Ahimsa Entertainment stated, “The response on the first day has been overwhelming. With a strong team including Thalapathy Vijay, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Anirudh, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, and Trisha, we were hopeful for such positive numbers. We’re aiming to make this the largest-ever release for an Indian film in the UK, and we’re grateful for the continuous support from fans.”
