The film marks Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi's debut in Bollywood. It casts Katrina Kaif as the female lead.
Director Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas, which marks the Bollywood debut of Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, will not be released on 15 December as announced earlier. The film will hit the marquee on 12 January next year.
The makers made an announcement to this effect on Thursday, 16 November.
Merry Christmas triggered a huge amount of interest as it features Katrina Kaif as the female lead. It is produced by Tips Films.
Taking to social media platform X, Tips Films tweeted: “The wait is almost over! #MerryChristmas is making your winter merrier on January 12, 2024.”
The makers also released new posters of the film and issued a statement explaining the reason for the postponement of the release date.
“We have made this film with a lot of love and passion, like every filmmaker does. However, with back-to-back movie releases and packed last two months of 2023, we have taken the decision to bring our film to theatres on January 12, 2024,” the makers said.

Merry Christmas is being released in three languages — Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The supporting cast will be different in each version though.
The Tamil version features Radhika Sarathkumar and Kavin Babu. The lyrics are by Yuga Bharathi.
The Tamil version has been penned by four writers — Pradeep Kumar, Abdul Jaffer, Prasanna Bala Natarajan, and Latha Karthikeyan.
