Vijay Deverakonda striking semi-nude pose in Liger poster has internet divided

The latest poster of Vijay Deverakonda’s pan-India movie Liger, released on Saturday, 2 July, has the internet divided.

While some trolled the actor for his nude look and called the poster a copy of Aamir Khan’s PK, others called it the “sexiest poster ever”.

It shows a naked Deverakonda holding a bouquet of roses that covers his privates.

Twitter divided over poster

The poster went viral and trended on Twitter for 24 hours with the hashtag #SexiestPosterEver.

It, however, did not go down well with everyone, with some suggesting that it was a copy of the poster of Bollywood actor Amir Khan’s acclaimed movie PK.

Here’s a look at some of the reactions:

Meanwhile, the post also gained more than a million likes on the social media platform Instagram in just four hours, making it the fastest Indian poster to reach the milestone.

The actor himself took to Twitter and shared the poster with the caption: “A Film that took my everything. As a performance, Mentally, physically my most challenging role. I give you everything! Coming Soon #LIGER. [sic]”

The poster has the words “Saala Crossbreed” in the background and the actor is seen flaunting his six-pack abs.

In the film, Deverakonda plays a character named Liger, a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, who goes all out to win matches.

A liger in real life is a crossbreed between a male lion and a female tiger, and is larger than its parents.

It is known for its big head and tiger-like striped body.

About Liger

Liger marks the Bollywood debut of Deverakonda and is set to be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada on 25 August.

The plan was to release the film last year, but it was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Directed and written by Puri Jagannadh, the film also features Ananya Panday, Ronit Roy, Makarand Deshpande, and Ramya Krishna.

American Boxer Mike Tyson has an extended cameo in the film.
