National Award winner Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai 2 finished its shooting, said a source associated with Eldred Kumar’s RS Infotainment. There are huge expectations about the film as Vetrimaaran is known for making socially-relevant themes.
Viduthalai 2 casts Vijay Sethupathi in the role of Vaathiyar and comedian Soori in a pivotal role. Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, Prakash Raj, and Chethan are also part of the cast.
The crime thriller was initially launched as a low-budget film but gained steam after Udhaynidhi Stalin joined the production team. It will be distributed by Stalin’s Red Giant Movies banner.
According to reports, the movie’s shooting took place in the Kodaikanal forest where art director Jackie erected a railway bridge and a dummy train. The set alone costed Rs 10 crore as the materials used were real.
Portions of the film were shot in the Sathyamangalam forest, too.

Yet another major highlight is the action scenes choreographed by Peter Hein. A special team of stuntmen from Bulgaria were roped in for the action scenes.
Due to the intense storytelling, Vetrimaaran decided to release the film in two parts. Viduthalai is adapted from Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan. The music is by Ilaiyaraaja. The cinematography is by R Velraj.
