Veteran Malayalam film editor Hariharaputhran, 79, is no more

Hariharaputhran's death happened at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram, and the funeral will took place at 2 PM at Shanthi Kavadam, Thycaud.

Malayalam editor Hariharaputhran passes away

Renowned Malayalam film editor KP Hariharaputhran died on Saturday, 26 August. The end came at his residence in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 79.

The veteran editor, who was in the industry for over 50 years, has worked in more than 80 films.

Popular films

Hariharaputhran has edited several popular Malayalam movies, including Punjabi House (1998), Pandippada (2005), Thommanum Makkalum (2005), Mayavi (2007), Chocolate (2007), and Vadakkumnathan (2006).

He has worked as an assistant editor, associate editor, and editor in a number of Malayalam movies. He worked as assistant editor in the 1971 release Vilakku Vangiya Veena. In the same year, he was the associate editor of Vithukal.

Hariharaputhran worked as an independent editor in the 1979 horror film Kalliyankattu Neeli, directed by M Krishnan Nair.

His other major works include April 18 (1984), Sukhamo Devi (1986), Vivahithare Ithile (1986), and Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava (1995).

His last movie was The Great Indian Road Movie, directed by Sohanlal, in 2019.

Condolences

Film Employees Federation of Kerala, or FEFKA, condoled the demise of Hariharaputhran on Facebook. The union said the editor worked in many films in Malayalam.

Actor-director Madhupal also expressed his grief. On his Facebook page, he wrote the death of Hariharaputhran was a great loss to the industry.

Mammootty too expressed his condolences.
