Vasanth Ravi criticises Jio Studios for not communicating about 'Pon Ondru Kanden' TV premiere

Tamil actor Vasanth Ravi’s new project, Pon Ondru Kanden is helmed by Kanda Naal Mudhalai (2005) director V Priya.

The romantic comedy also casts Ashok Selvan and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. It is jointly produced by Yuvan Shankar Raja’s YSR Films and Jio Studios.

In a shocking development, the satellite channel Colors Tamil took to its official X handle on Thursday, 14 March, to share that Pon Ondru Kanden will soon have an official television premiere.

Jio Studios, the production house, decided to release the flick directly on TV instead of theatres and OTT platforms.

What is more shocking is that the film team has not been informed of this decision.

Protesting against this move, Vasanth Ravi averred that the information about Pon Ondru Kanden’s premiere via the satellite channel was not known to him, V Priya, Ashok, Aishwarya or Yuvan Shankar Raja.

He took a strong objection against Jio Studios’ decision to go for a direct television premiere for the film.

In his X post, Vasanth Ravi wrote: “Shocking !! Is this even True ?? Especially from a reputed and leading production house like Jio Studios? Extremely painful and disheartening to see the promo of Pon Ondru Kanden and the announcement of the World Satellite Premiere without any communication to Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Yuvan Shankar Raja sir, V Priya Ma’am or anyone associated with the film!!”

He further added: “We have worked really hard for this film. The whole team of Pon Ondru Kanden is totally unaware and not being informed about this at all !! Thank you Jio Studios for being so kind, your respect to the team of #PonOndruKanden has only increased multiple times for keeping us posted about it only through X!!”

Vasanth Ravi asserted that the actors and the crew deserve respect to be informed of the decision taken by Jio Studios.

“A Creator or Artists does not have a say in your commercial decision aspects for his or her Artistic Work once it is given to the Producer, but atleast they deserve respect to be informed about it through you and not from an online portal such as X or Instagram,” he wrote.
