Salaar A rating

Typically, Prabhas’ movies cater to a broad audience of all age groups without any restrictions. However, fans were somewhat perplexed over the way the Censor Board assigned an “Adults-Only” (A) rating to Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire as if it is adult-oriented content, akin to Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal (2023).

The confidence among viewers is that Prashant Neel, who amassed a nationwide audience with KGF (2022), would not come up with such A-rated content.

Now, what led to the decision to bring Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire with a rating of A?

This clarity was provided by director Prashanth Neel himself. In a joint interview with Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and SS Rajamouli, he explained the reasons behind the “A” rating.

The Censor Board officials suggested numerous cuts after the preview of Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire and Prashanth Neel reluctantly agreed though he was not satisfied with the changes in the film.

When Prabhas was consulted about the cuts, he suggested going ahead with an “A” rating considering the potential impact of how too many cuts might affect the story flow.

Subsequently, Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire received an A rating instead of the expected U/A.

However, it is not anticipated that this rating will adversely affect the film’s box office collections as the success of Animal was not solely dependent on an adult audience.

No matter how hard the multiplexes try, it is highly impossible to check the age of every audience coming to Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire, given the rush. Theatres might additionally rope in manpower to plug in these issues.

However, Prashanth Neel made it clear that what he showed in Salaar was bloodshed and no forced violence. He also emphasised that there will be no romance, sex or any other explicit content in the movie.
