Makers of The Face of the Faceless with the Pope at Vatican

The Malayalam movie The Face of the Faceless was screened for bishops and special guests at a venue near the residence of Pope Francis in the Vatican City on Friday, 24 November.

Thus, it became the first Malayalam film to be screened at the Vatican, claimed its makers.

The Face of the Faceless narrates the life of Sister Rani Maria, a Malayali nun who was murdered in Indore on 25 February 1995.

Vincy Aloysius, the Kerala State Award winner for best actress this year, played the role of Sister Rani Maria in the flick.

The people of Indore were greatly impressed by the work of Sister Rani Maria, who intervened to provide education and self-sufficiency to the common people of the society.

A person named Samander Singh killed the nun while she was travelling by bus from Uday Nagar to Indore. On 4 November 2017, the Church declared Sister Rini Maria a Blessed Martyr.

The makers said the Vatican City is supporting the promotion of the film. The team also arranged for the Pope to watch the movie.

It is directed by Shaison P Oussep and produced by Sandra D’Souza Rana under the banner of Tri Light Creations.
