Team Thalaivar 170

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s next film Thalaivar 170 seems to be getting bigger by the minute with the makers now announcing that Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan will be a part of the venture.

It will be directed by TJ Gnanavel, best known for his critically acclaimed legal drama Jai Bhim (2021). It is produced by one of Tamil cinema’s biggest production houses — Lyca Productions — which has already announced an impressive star cast for the movie.

Among those named as part of the cast for Rajinikanth’s 170th film are Malayalam actors Fahadh Faasil and Manju Warrier, Telugu actor Rana Daggubatti, and actresses Dushara Vijayan and Ritika Singh.

Expectedly, Anirudh Ravichander, whose contribution to the success of Rajinikanth’s previous film Jailer (2023) was immense, has been retained as the music director for Thalaivar 170 too.

Before departing to Trivandrum, actor Rajinikanth disclosed that Gnanavel’s film would be a proper entertainer with a strong social message.

After 32 years

As expected, Thalaivar 170 has triggered huge expectations for a number of reasons including the fact that Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan will be working together after a gap of almost 32 years.

The last flick that the two superstars were seen together was Hum, released in 1991.

Actress Ritika Singh couldn’t hide her excitement at having been picked to act in a Rajinikanth film. She took to social media to express her happiness.

She wrote: “Damn! I’m not even able to see through my tears right now. An opportunity to share the screen with Rajni Sir and the entire stellar cast and crew of #Thalaivar170 is straight out of my dreams and I’m immensely grateful for this opportunity! What a momenttt!!!!”
