Tollywood steps up for flood relief in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

While Prabhas and Pawan Kalyan contributed ₹2 crore each, Jr NTR, Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, and Balakrishna donated ₹1 crore each.

Tollywood steps up for flood relief in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana

In the wake of the recent floods that wreaked havoc in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Tollywood has come forward to lend a helping hand to the affected communities.

A couple of actors and production houses announced financial aid for taking up the relief and rehabilitation works in these states.

The heavy rains over the past few days led to a deluge in both states, causing significant disruption to daily life. In response, popular actor Jr NTR announced a donation of ₹50 lakh each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He also expressed his deep concern for those affected by the floods.

“I am deeply moved by the recent floods in the two Telugu states due to heavy rains. I pray that the Telugu people recover from this calamity soon. On my part, I am announcing a donation of ₹50 lakhs each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments to help with the measures taken by the two Telugu state governments for flood relief,” Jr NTR wrote in his social media post.

Following Jr NTR’s lead, Tollywood actor Vishwak Sen, a self-proclaimed admirer of the star, announced a donation of ₹5 lakh each to the flood relief efforts in both states.

The generous contributions from these actors drew widespread appreciation from fans and netizens, who lauded their timely support.

In addition to individual contributions, the team behind Aay (2024) stepped forward to help the flood victims in the state.

Producer Bunny Vas decided to donate 25 percent of the film’s share, starting from 2 September through the weekend, to the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party for flood relief efforts.

Earlier, Vyjayanthi Movies—the production house behind the recent blockbuster hit Kalki 2898 ADalso made a significant donation. It contributed ₹25 lakh to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and ₹20 lakh to the Telangana CM’s Relief Fund, underscoring the industry’s collective commitment to supporting flood relief efforts.

Similarly, director Trivikram Srinivas and producers S Radha Krishna (Chinababu) and S Naga Vamsi announced to donate ₹25 lakh each to the CM Relief Funds of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states.

Actor and AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also pledged a donation of ₹1 crore each to the CM Relief Funds of both Telugu states. He also contributed ₹1 lakh each to 400 panchayats (amounting to ₹4 crore) in Andhra Pradesh.

Mahesh Babu donated ₹50 lakh each to the Relief Fund of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Prabhas donated ₹1 crore each, while Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, and Ram Charan contributed ₹50 lakh each to the two Telugu states.

Similarly, Balakrishna promised ₹50 lakh each, Siddhu Jonnalagadda ₹15 lakh each, and Ananya Nagalla ₹2.5 lakh each to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Actor Ali donated ₹3 lakh each to the states. Sai Durgha Tej contributed ₹10 lakh each to the two states and another ₹5 lakh to the AP Panchayat Raj department. Varun Tej donated ₹5 lakh each to the CM Relief Fund of AP and Telangana and ₹5 lakh to the AP Panchayat Raj department.

Flood crisis in AP and Telangana

The ongoing floods severely impacted many regions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with thousands of people displaced and properties damaged.

The state governments have been working tirelessly to provide relief and rehabilitation to the affected communities. Emergency teams have been deployed to rescue stranded individuals, and temporary shelters have been set up to accommodate those displaced by the floods.

The governments are also focusing on restoring essential services and providing medical aid to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases.

As the situation remains critical, the involvement of the Telugu film industry provided much-needed support to the ongoing relief efforts. More actors, technicians, and production houses are expected to join in, demonstrating the industry’s solidarity with the affected communities.
