After delivering a massive hit with RRR (2022), SS Rajamouli has been prepping for his next venture with Mahesh Babu.
The yet-to-be-titled film is now being referred to as SSMB29. Apart from the lead actor and a few technical crew, much about the film has been kept under wraps.
However, recently, the writer of the film and father of SS Rajamouli, Vijayendra Prasad, confirmed at an event— Masterclass organised by Jindal School of Journalism and Communication— that the film will start shooting in January 2025.
In the clip now viral on X, one of the audience members is seen asking the writer to give an update about the most anticipated film. To which Vijayendra Prasad says, “Definitely starts from January.”
In the same clip, he can be heard saying, “(Generally) it takes three to four weeks to form a story, but for Mahesh Babu, it took two years.”
Recently Mahesh Babu also was seen preparing for the role growing his hair and beard.
Rajamouli is known to transform his actors for his films, making the characters a milestone in the actors’ careers too.
Prabhas and Rana Daggubati reportedly gained and lost weight and underwent a severe physical transformation for the two parts of Baahubali (2015 and 2017). Similarly, Ram Charan and Jr NTR also underwent strenuous training to look at the parts in RRR (2022).
It is now time for the superstar Mahesh Babu to change his physical appearance for his next and it seems like the actor is already working on it.
It has been reported that Rajamouli has asked Mahesh Babu to complete the physical transformation, and in the meanwhile the film unit is set to shoot the VFX sequences.
Recently it was reported that Rajamouli has decided to kick off SSMB29 with VFX sequences. Like all other Rajamouli films, this too is expected to be high on VFX sequences.
SSMB29, which is reported to be a jungle adventure drama, is bound to involve a lot of VFX-based action sequences.
Primarily set to be filmed in the African jungles, SSMB29 is poised to be one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema, with a budget exceeding ₹1,000 crore.
Meanwhile, SSMB29 is set to have PS Vinod as its cinematographer. This comes as a surprise as Rajamouli has not opted for his trusted cameraman KK Senthil Kumar this time.
