Actor Chiranjeevi is caught up in a row for the remarks he made at a recent event in Hyderabad.

Chiranjeevi was attending the pre-release event of actor-comedian Bramhanandam’s film Bramha Anandam when he was asked about his grandchildren by the anchor.

The actor speaking of them said, “When I’m at home, it doesn’t feel like I’m surrounded by my granddaughters; it feels like I’m a ladies’ hostel warden, surrounded by ladies all around.”

Further speaking about his son, actor Ram Charan’s having a daughter, he said, “I keep asking Charan, at least this time, to have a boy so that our legacy continues, but his daughter is very dear to him… I’m scared that he might again have a girl.”

His comments of wanting a male child to continue their family legacy soon received backlash for the sexist undertones.

A social media user wrote in Telugu: “A big man by name…!! In the 21st century, Chiranjeevi’s remarks about only boys continuing family legacy is an insult to women and girls. There has been a strong protest, especially from the women’s community, against the comments.”

Actor Ram Charan and his wife business person Upasana Konidela welcomed a baby girl named Klin Kaara Konidela in June 2023.

Apart from Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi has two daughters, Sushmita and Sreeja. Both of them are blessed with two daughters each.
