Rana Naidu Season 2 shooting underway

Team Rana Naidu Season 2, starring Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati, is busy shooting the web series. Netflix India announced the update on its social media handles on Tuesday, 23 July.

The OTT giant also shared a short video, which gave a glimpse into the Rana Naidu Season 2 shooting process.

Surprisingly, the web show 2 will feature Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal in a prominent role. Reports say the actor will play the main protagonist this season, while Venkatesh and Rana will reprise their roles as the lead actors.

Rana Naidu (2023), a crime-action drama, was directed by Suparn Verma and Karan Anshuman. It also starred Sushant Singh, Surveen Chawla, Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, Rajesh Jais, Rajni Basumatary, Adithya Menon, and Flora Saini in key roles.

The new season will mostly retain the characters from Season 1 and introduce new ones. More details about the web show will be revealed in future.

Venkatesh played the father of his real-life nephew Rana Dggubati in this 10-episode web series. The latter appeared in the titular role, a fixer who cleans up the mess created by his high-profile clients. Venkatesh and Rana’s onscreen chemistry became the talk of the town upon the launch of Rana Naidu.

Rana Naidu raised many eyebrows for its bold content and excessive cuss words, particularly by Venkatesh. The veteran Telugu star is known for doing family-oriented films. However, he surprised everyone by taking up a role that broke his image.

Rana Naidu was adapted from the popular American TV series “Ray Donovan“. Brothers-composers duo Sangeet-Siddharth scored the music for Season 1, while Jaya Krishna Gummadi handled the cinematography. The web series is streaming on Netflix India in Hindi and Telugu.

Venkatesh, Rana’s upcoming films

Meanwhile, Venkatesh’s last release, Saindhav (2024) missed the mark at the box office. The Sailesh Kolanu directorial drew huge expectations among audiences and fans. It also launched Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddique in the Telugu industry but failed to pull crowds to theatres.

Venkatesh recently launched his 76th film under the direction of Anil Ravipudi tentatively titled SVC58. It is their third collaboration after F2 (2019) and F3 (2023). The yet-untitled film stars Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh as the female leads.

The teaser, launched in April this year, revealed that the story would revolve around three characters: an ex-police officer, an ex-girlfriend, and an “extraordinary” wife. Dil Raju is producing the flick under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations.

On the other hand, Rana was last seen in a cameo role in Nikhil Siddharth’s Spy (2023), a box-office disaster. He is playing a key role in Rajinikanth’s most-anticipated Tamil film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel.

The movie brings together Rajinikanth and Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan after their blockbuster Hindi film Hum (1991). It also marks Big B’s Tamil debut. Vettaiyan also features Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, Rohini, Kishore, Rao Ramesh, and Shaji Chen in important roles.
