The Telugu superhit film Hanu-Man is all set to release in Japan. Prasanth Varma’s directorial is all about a village lad, who similar to the Hindu god Hanuman discovers his powers and saves his village.
Sharing the news of international acclaim, director Prasanth Varma, took to X to share the Japanese poster of the film.
“Hanu-Man is releasing in Japan on 4 October, 2024” he wrote. According to reports, the film will be released with Japanese subtitles.
In recent years, there has been a sharp rise in interest in Indian, especially Telugu films in Japan. Previously Rajamouli’s Baahubali and RRR were released in Japan, and also gained the audiences love.
With Hanu-Man also being an action entertainer, with a backdrop of mythology, the makers are hopeful, it will make its mark in Japan.
The film was released in India in the four south Indian languages and Hindi on 12 January, during the Sankranthi. Headlined by Teja Sajja, the film became a superhit surpassing all other star-studded Sankranthi releases.
Hanu-Man was up against Mahesh Babu, Venkatesh, and Nagarjuna — three big stars of Tollywood.
Hanu-Man not only held its own among all four Sankranthi releases but also emerged as the biggest winner.
Storywise, Hanu-Man doesn’t boast of much novelty. It is a classic tale of good versus evil with the superhero tropes of Hollywood. What made Hanu-Man click was how Prasanth Varma weaved the elements of mythology in a contemporary setting. The amalgamation of devotion with the superhero elements made a perfect mix.
Our review read: “This Hanu-Man does not make a serious superhero film but rather a comedy entertainer catering mostly to children. Bearing the final pre-climax block, the story appears to be a tried-and-tested template of a film released during the 90s.”
In fact, the makers have already started working on the second part of the film titled Jai Hanuman.
