Prabhas’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ locks its OTT release date
The Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions will be premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 22 August; the Hindi version will debut on Netflix the same day.

Director Nag Ashwin’s latest blockbuster hit, Kalki 2898 AD got its OTT release date. The film will be premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 22 August. The digital platform shared this news on its social media handles on Saturday, 17 August.
The OTT platform also announced that Kalki 2898 AD will be streamed in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions on the said date.
Interestingly, the Hindi digital rights for the flick have been acquired by Netflix. The OTT giant disclosed that the Hindi dubbed version will also be premiered on 22 August. Kalki 2898 AD is hitting the OTT space eight weeks after its theatrical release.
The most-anticipated movie took inspiration from the epics of Mahabharata. While Prabhas donned the role of Karna, Amitabh Bachchan appeared as Ashwaththama, and Kamal Haasan as the ruthless antagonist Supreme Yaskin. Deepika Padukone played the role of Kalki’s mother Sumathi.
The film also featured a host of actors and directors playing cameo roles-Krishnakumar aka KK, Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salmaan, Malvika Nair, Faria Abdullah, Srinivas Kanakala, SS Rajamouli, KV Anudeep, Ram Gopal Varma.
Ashwini Dutt’s Vyjayanthi Movies bankrolled this prestigious venture. Santhosh Narayanan scored the tunes and background music.
Djordje Stojiljkovic cranked the camera for Kalki 2898 AD, while Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao handled the editing department. Annapurna Studios, AA Films, Wayfarer Films, Sri Lakshmi Films, and KVN Productions were the distributors.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Nag Ashwin revealed that Kalki 2898 AD was part of the Kalki Cinematic Universe. The makers launched “Bujji and Bhairava“, a prequel series before the film’s theatrical release.
In an interview, producer Ashwini Dutt shared that 60 percent of Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 has been completed and major segments will be filmed soon. Given the tremendous success of Part 1, Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 is drawing huge anticipation among fans and film enthusiasts.
