After his 2021 divorce from Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Naga Chaitanya went through a difficult period, which his father, Nagarjuna Akkineni, described as a time of “deep depression”. However, Chaitanya found love again with actor Sobhita Dhulipala.

The couple got engaged on 8 August, after dating for two years. Nagarjuna shared that Chaitanya and Sobhita are “deeply in love” and expressed his happiness for his son, noting that seeing Chaitanya smile again has been heartening.

Nagarjuna explained that their engagement on 8 August was prompted by the date’s auspicious significance, tied to numerology and astrology, particularly the Lion’s Gate Portal—a time when Earth aligns with the star Sirius, enhancing spiritual energy and opportunities for personal growth.

Interestingly, this date also coincides with the day Samantha Ruth Prabhu proposed to Chaitanya, adding to the engagement’s significance. This coincidence has led to speculation among fans about whether the date was chosen intentionally.

Samantha is still regarded as a daughter: Nagarjuna

Asked about Samantha and her relationship with Nagarjuna, the veteran actor confirmed that despite the separation, she is still regarded as a daughter rather than just a daughter-in-law. He noted, “Yes, of course. That remains unchanged. What happens between a couple is a different matter.”

The private engagement ceremony took place at Chaitanya’s Hyderabad home with close family and friends.

Sobhita looked elegant in a peach pink traditional silk saree, adorned with a temple flower and gold jewellery, while Chaitanya wore a classic traditional outfit designed by Manish Malhotra.

Nagarjuna was the first to announce the engagement publicly, sharing heartfelt photos of the couple.

Sobhita recently made her Hollywood debut with The Monkey Man, while Naga Chaitanya is currently filming Thandel with Sai Pallavi.

The engagement marked a joyous moment for both families, celebrated with intimate and heartfelt moments shared by the couple.

Alongside the pictures, Sobhita shared a poignant poem she felt reflected their relationship. The poem, a translation from Kurunthogai by AK Ramanujan, explores the timeless nature of love, transcending traditional bonds.

She included these lines in her post. “What could my mother be to yours? What kin is my father to yours? And how did you and I meet ever? But in love our hearts are as red earth and pouring rain: mingled beyond parting.”

These words capture the essence of their relationship, which has deepened despite life’s challenges and differences. The metaphor of “red earth and pouring rain” symbolises how their previously separate lives have merged into a strong, inseparable bond.

As anticipated, the couple’s announcement received an outpouring of love from fans and well-wishers.
