Director Prashanth Varma on Thursday, 10 October, announced the introduction of a female superhero character into his Prashanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) with the announcement of the new film Mahakali.
On the occasion of Navaratri, Prashanth Varma took to X, to announce the new film Mahakali. The film will be directed by Puja Kolluru, who previously directed Martin Luther King (2023).
He wrote: “On this auspicious occasion of Navratri, I’m thrilled to share something very special. Together with RKD Studios, we proudly present the tale of an invincible warrior, the protector of the righteous, and the ultimate destroyer of evil.”
He further wrote, “From the universe of Hanuman, prepare for the rise of Mahakali.”
He also shared a first-look teaser of the film.

Prashanth Varma rose to fame with the superhero film Hanu Man and is now prepping for its second part Jai Hanuman.
Headlined by Teja Sajja, the film released in January became a superhit surpassing all other star-studded Sankranthi releases.
The poster shared shows a young girl with a tiger, with the backdrop of Kolkata’s Howrah Bridge.
Sharing her excitement, Puja Kolluru wrote on X, “Here’s my next directorial and it’s gonna be. Thank you Prasanth Varma for this wonderful opportunity with the PVCU, and for making my dream of Directing a SUPERHERO story of a WOMAN come true!”

RKD Productions is venturing into production with Mahakali. The film is expected to be shot at a large scale with a massive budget.
Mahakali written by Prasanth Varma, will be produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal for RKD Studios and presented by RK Duggal. Smaran Sai composes the music, while Sri Nagendra Tangalla is the production designer.
