According to several reports, the film, which was initially 3 hours and 15 minutes has undergone 19 cuts deleting 14 minutes of footage.
The film starring Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nagarjuna is a social drama set in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums.
It went on floors in early 2024 and stars Jim Sarbh, Aparna Balamurali and Sundeep Kishan, alongside the main leads.
National Award-winning composer Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the original music for this bilingual film. While it is being shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, the film will also be released in Hindi.
The teaser released earlier revealed that Dhanush will portray two distinct avatars. In one scene, he appears as a slum-dweller, while in another, he is seen in traditional attire. Nagarjuna, reportedly, plays an investigative officer in Kubera, and Jim Sarbh plays a wealthy businessman.
Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao are bankrolling Kubera under the banners of Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, and Amigos Creations Pvt. Ltd. Niketh Bommi is handling the cinematography, and Thota Tharani will handle the production design.
Kammula is known for Telugu films like Anand (2004) Godavari (2006), Happy Days (2007) and Love Story (2021).
Nagarjuna was last seen in Naa Saami Ranga (2024)— a Sankranti release, which didn’t fare well at the box office.
While Dhanush was seen in his directorial release Raayan (2024), the female lead Rashmika Mandanna had two back-to-back hits with Pushpa 2: The Rule, and Chhaava.
