Kalki 2898 AD continues its unstoppable run, crossing the ₹500 crore mark in worldwide gross. The film, which hit the screens on 27 June, stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, and is making waves with its box office performance. Disha Patani also features in this one, with cameo appearances by Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan, SS Rajamouli, RGV, and Mrunal Thakur.

Vyjayanthi Movies announced that the film had amassed ₹415 crore in gross collections, three days after its release, on 30 June. Later that night, they posted on X that the film had touched ₹500 crore.

Previously, the team behind Kalki 2898 AD announced that the sci-fi film grossed ₹191.5 crore worldwide across all languages on its opening day. By the end of the second day, the film’s worldwide gross had reached ₹298.5 crore.

Described as a fusion of the Hindu epic Mahabharata and science fiction, this high-budget film was released, in six languages; Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English.

After the pivotal event on the ancient Kurukshetra War battlefield, Kalki 2898 AD leaps ahead several millennia to Kasi, a dystopian slum with a familiar yet intricately detailed setting, touted as both the first and last surviving city on Earth.

On its first day, Kalki 2898 AD surpassed the opening day collection of last year’s blockbuster Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, which earned ₹75 crore.

Bhairava (Prabhas) seizes the chance to fulfill his ambitions when a substantial bounty is offered for the capture of SUM-80 (Deepika Padukone), who has escaped from the Project K lab in the Complex. Here, pregnant women are regularly terminated after their fluids are harvested to sustain Yaskin’s (Kamal Haasan) immortality.

SUM-80 is renamed Sumati by her new allies and is safeguarded by the now-elderly Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), who has transformed into an 8-foot-tall sage with extraordinary strength. He possesses a keen instinct for identifying women who could potentially be the Mother, prophesied as the parent of Kalki.

Nag Ashwin’s film is India’s most expensive movie ever made and was produced with a budget of ₹600 crore.

Worldwide, audiences should easily recognise Nag Ashwin’s many references in both visuals and storytelling to popular works such as Dune, Star Wars, and the Harry Potter series.

Kalki 2898 AD features an extensive ensemble cast that includes Saswata Chatterjee, Brahmanandam, Rajendra Prasad, Shobana, Pashupathy, Anna Ben, and so on.

The film marks the first installment in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki Cinematic Universe.
