Jr NTR had previously visited Japan when his last film RRR was released in Japan. During the same visit, the actor interacted with the audience in Japanese.
The two-part franchise is directed by Siva Koratala and is the debut film of Janhvi Kapoor in Telugu. Devara stars Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan as an antagonist.
The Telugu movie is set against the backdrop of India’s forgotten coastal lands and features a significant amount of VFX.
Devara Part 1 was also Jr NTR’s solo film after six years. His last movie with Ram Charan, Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR (2022), gained global attention.
Devara is presented by Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and produced by Mikkilineni Sudhakar and Hari Krishna K under the banners of NTR Arts and Yuvasudha Arts. Sreekar Prasad is the editor, R Rathnavelu is the cinematographer, and Sabu Cyril is the production designer.
Anirudh Ravichander composed the songs for the flick. His songs already garnered widespread appreciation and are ruling the chartbusters.
NTR Jr has now teamed up with filmmaker Prashanth Neel, known for his work on K.G.F: Chapter 1, K.G.F: Chapter 2, and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. Their collaboration, tentatively titled NTRNeel, is currently being shot in Hyderabad.
The film is aiming for an early 2026 release, in multiple languages— Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
In recent years, there has been a sharp rise in interest in Indian, especially Telugu films in Japan. Previously Rajamouli’s Baahubali and RRR, Prasanth Varma’s Hanu-man, and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD were released in Japan and also gained the audience’s love.
