Acclaimed filmmakers Joe Russo and James Cameron have lauded SS Rajamouli for his exceptional skill in combining action, drama, and emotion in his films.

Their insights are featured in the Netflix documentary Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli, where they delve into his unique storytelling techniques.

In the documentary, Joe Russo and James Cameron examine Rajamouli’s unique filmmaking approach, emphasising his ability to create films that are both grand and deeply personal.

James Cameron remarked, “It’s an honour to receive such praise. As filmmakers, we are shaped by the influences from our early years. Rajamouli, however, has carved his niche with a distinctive style. I’d describe it as muscular—not just in terms of physical strength, though he captures that well—but full of energy and dynamism, leaving a powerful and unforgettable impression.”

Joe Russo and James Cameron were particularly impressed by Rajamouli’s fearless innovation and commitment to pushing cinematic boundaries.

They praised his relentless pursuit of new ideas and his ability to elevate his films to a craft level comparable to major Hollywood productions.

Joe Russo spoke about the impact of Rajamouli’s RRR (2022), saying, “The reception of RRR in Hollywood was spectacular. The craftsmanship in this film rivals any major Hollywood production. The scale and execution are truly impressive.”

Modern Masters: SS Rajamouli, directed by Raghav Khanna and produced by Applause Entertainment and Film Companion Studios, is now streaming on Netflix.

The documentary offers an in-depth look at Rajamouli’s cinematic vision and achievements.

Rajamouli’s latest directorial RRR stars Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris.

The film received significant acclaim, including an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Naatu Naatu“, further cementing Rajamouli’s status as a visionary filmmaker on the global stage.
