A day after announcing the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards for 2024, the Telangana government, on Friday, 30 May, announced the list of best films for the period between June 2014 to December 2023, and and six special awards.
For 2024, Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD was named the first Best Feature Film, along with director bagging the Best Director Award, actor Allu Arjun bagged the Best Actor Male Award for Pushpa 2: The Rule, and Nivetha Thomas was named Best Actor Female for 35 Chinna Katha Kadhu.
TFDC Managing Director S Harish and Chairman Dil Raju announced the list of winners at a press conference. The jury responsible for selecting the awardees was headed by actor and entrepreneur Murali Mohan.
According to a Cinema Express report, speaking on the occasion, Murali Mohan explained that the decision to discontinue the prestigious Nandi Film Awards was made jointly by the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments after the 2014 bifurcation. He noted that many film personalities had urged for the awards to be presented for the past 10 years, saying, “Every artist cherishes the feeling of being recognized.”

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in 2024, introducing the awards, noted that the state government would present awards to film personalities, poets and artists named after the revolutionary late Gaddar.
Gaddar, also a poet and balladeer, born as Gummadi Vittal Rao in a poor Dalit family in the Medak district of Telangana, was a voice of the poor during his lifetime.
