The 2.42-minute trailer opens with Ram Pothineni as Smart Shankar, who has a USB implanted behind his head. It then introduces Sanjay Dutt as Big Bull, who plans to swap brains with Shankar in his quest for immortality.

According to the makers, “The story’s core revolves around Big Bull, whose relentless quest for immortality leads him to a groundbreaking experiment. He plans to transplant his brain into Double iSmart’s body, setting up an intense showdown between the two powerhouses.”
Written by Puri Jagannadh, Double iSmart stars Kavya Thapar as the female lead, with Bani J, Ali, Getup Sreenu, Sayaji Shinde, Makrand Deshpande, and Temper Vamsi also in the cast.
Double iSmart features music by Mani Sharma, cinematography by Sam K Naidu and Gianni Giannelli, and editing by Karthika Sreenivas R.
This is Mani Sharma and Puri Jagannadh’s sixth collaboration, following successful albums such as Pokiri (2006), Chirutha (2007), and Ek Niranjan (2009).
Produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under the Puri Connects banner, the film will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi on Independence Day, 15 August, along with Ravi Teja’s Mr Bachchan.
In an interview, Ram attributed the success of iSmart Shankar to the strong bond and trust he shared with Puri Jagannadh, which positively impacted the film’s outcome. He considers the film a major turning point in his career.
“iSmart Shankar was pivotal for its success and expanded market reach and for me as an actor. Before this film, I was often cast in ‘Ramudu Manchi Baludu (2016)’ type roles. I wanted to take on bad-boy characters and approached Puri Jagannadh to create such a role. I’m grateful to him for providing me with this challenging opportunity,” Ram was quoted, as saying.
