Telugu actor Chiranjeevi, who is more commonly known as the megastar has completed 50 years of acting.
The 69-year-old actor, took to his social media, to share a black and white picture of his 19-year-old self to celebrate his first-ever acting gig.
The actor, whose official name is Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, was first bit by the acting bug in his second year of B.Com, in 1974, when he acted in a stage drama.
Sharing the same, he reminisced, “First drama on the ‘Rangasthalam’— ‘Rajeenama’ at YNM College Narsapur. Written by Kona Govinda Rao.”
The actor also shared that it was not only his first acting stint but also received the Best Actor Award at the college. He further said that the award gave him immense encouragement.
The actor four years later made his debut on the big screen with Pranam Khareedu (1978). In the 1980s, his stardom grew rapidly and the stories were merely excuses to celebrate him.
Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990), Gang Leader (1991), and Gharana Mogudu (1992) are few of his all time superhits.
He is working to wrap up the shoot for his fantasy tale Vishwambhara, slated for a 2025 release.
In September 2024, he was honoured with the Guinness World Record as the Most Prolific Film Star of Indian Cinema.
While presenting the honour, the Guinness World Record representatives noted that Chiranjeevi performed 24,000 dance moves in 537 songs in his 156 films in a span of 45 years.
Guinness World Records adjudicator Richard Stenning noted, “After thoroughly reviewing all 156 films and his dance performances, we found this achievement to be officially amazing.”
He has also received numerous honours, including the Padma Bhushan in 2006 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2024 from the Government of India, as well as the IFFI Indian Film Personality of the Year Award in 2022. His other accolades include the Raghupathi Venkaiah Award, three Nandi Awards, and nine Filmfare Awards South, including the Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2013
