April watchlist: Ravi Teja and Samantha to set screens on fire in Tollywood

This month of April will witness the release of a couple of much-awaited movies which are being keenly tracked by Telugu movie lovers.

From Samantha’s classic Shaakuntalam to Ravi Teja’s mass entertainer Ravanasura, here is the list of interesting films releasing this month.

Ravi Teja’s Ravanasura

Mass Maharaj Ravi Teja’s Ravanasura will be the first big release of April. The actor is on a high after Dhamaka’s super success. This naturally contributed to high expectations of Ravanasura.

Releasing on 7 April, Ravanasura stars a bevy of beauties like Faria Abdullah, Anu Emmanuel, Poojitha Ponnada, and Megha Akash. That’s surely an interesting combination.

This mass action entertainer is directed by Sudheer Varma and bankrolled by Abhishek Nama.

Kiran Abbavaram’s Meter

Young hero Kiran Abbavaram is coming up with a cop drama titled Meter on 7 April. It is touted as an out-and-out commercial entertainer. It is releasing the same day as Ravi Teja’s Ravanasura.

Athulya Ravi is paired opposite Kiran Abbavaram as the female lead.

Ramesh Kaduri is directing this action entertainer. Mythri Movie Makers is producing it.

Since Kiran Abbavaram has not scored a hit for a long time, he is pinning all his hopes on Meter.

Samantha’s Shaakuntalam

Accomplished director Gunasekhar is coming up with the historical love drama Shaakuntalam with star heroine Samantha playing the titular role.

Shaakuntalam is based on Kalidasa’s “Abhignana Shaakuntalam” which is regarded as one of the greatest love stories in Indian literature.

Shaakuntalam has been in news right from its announcement in October 2000, owing to its backdrop and team.

This pan-India movie casts Dev Mohan, Mohan Babu, Madhubala, Jisshusen Gupta, and Ananya Nagalla in key roles.

Gunasekhar is known for his aesthetic sense and his decision to cast Samantha as Shakuntala has won everyone’s heart. Catch up with this greatest love drama on 14 April.

Sai Dharam Tej’s Virupaksha

Mega camp hero Sai Dharam Tej is coming up Virupaksha on 21 April. This is the first movie from him after he survived an accident.

Appearing like a mysterious thriller, Virupaksha‘s trailers and posters have been successful in attracting audience attention.

Sai Dharam Tej is romancing Samyuktha in this flick. Karthik Dandu is directing it, while senior producer BVSN Prasad is bankrolling it.

Director Sukumar is also one of the producers.

Akhil’s Agent

Another most anticipated Telugu movie releasing in April is Akhil’s Agent.

Shot lavishly with a whopping budget, Agent is a stylish spy action thriller. The trailers give a glimpse of Agent’s wild ride across the globe and movie lovers are impressed.

Director Surendar Reddy is known for delivering stylish action entertainers. He has shown his mark in Agent.

Besides Akhil, the pan-India film also stars senior hero Mammootty. Sakshi Vaidya is the female lead.

Agent’s release has been postponed several times and is finally hitting the screens on 28 April. So, plan your schedule and have a date with your favourite movie.
