The multi-starrer film, touted to be the last venture of actor turned politician Vijay, has got a title on Republic Day. The film, which was being referred to as Thalapathy 69, is now titled Jana Nayagan.
The film is expected to be Vijay’s final acting project before he transitions to a political career, ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
While H Vinoth is directing the film, Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music. It is being produced by KVN Productions. The technical department includes cinematographer Sathyan Sooryan, editor Pradeep E. Ragav, action choreographer Anlarasu, art director Selva Kumar, and costume designer Pallavi Singh.
The makers also revealed the first-look poster, featuring Vijay taking a selfie from a stage, with a massive crowd of supporters posing with him below.
Later in the day, the makers released another motion picture, in which Vijay is holding a rope in his hand and smiles for the shot. The poster features the phrase “Nan Aanai Ittal” within the frame. He is seen wearing a black shirt paired with matching pants.
Apart from Vijay, the film’s ensemble cast includes Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, and Narain, along with Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju and Teejay Arunasalam.
Since Jana Nayagan is its first pan-India venture, KVN Productions promised an epic cinematic experience. A press release from the makers in September 2024 expressed their excitement, stating, “We are pulling out all the stops to ensure this final chapter in Vijay’s illustrious career is nothing short of legendary.”
Director Vinoth is known for directing Sathuranga Vettai (2014), Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017) and three films with Ajith—Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), Valimai (2022), and Thunivu (2023).
Tamil actor Vijay’s last release GOAT (Greatest of All Time) released on 5 September, became a huge success in Tamil Nadu with a gross collection of over ₹400 crore.
