The much-anticipated film Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2, starring Chiyaan Vikram, directed by SU Arunkumar, was supposed to release on Thursday, 27 March.
However, on the day of the release, the film got caught in legal troubles, with Mumbai-based production company B4U filing a case against the makers, leading to the court delaying the release by four weeks.
According to The Hindu report, the case heard by the Delhi High Court initially imposed an interim stay on the film’s release until 10:30 a.m., leading to the cancellation of the 9 a.m. shows in Tamil Nadu and premiere screenings in the US. Later, the court ordered the producers to deposit ₹7 crore and submit the required documents within 48 hours.
The report further mentioned that the plaintiffs and defendants are expected to approach the Delhi High Court once again at 3 PM on Thursday to reach an amicable solution. Distributor and exhibitor Tirupur Subramaniam, in a statement, assured that the legal issues would be resolved soon and that the film would be released on Thursday evening. However, an official confirmation about the same is awaited.
According to TNIE report, B4U sought compensation from the film’s producer for allegedly not honouring the contract of selling the OTT rights of the film before its release. It claimed that the makers of Veera Dheera Sooran announced the film’s release date without selling the digital rights.
While it is known that the film was to be released in two parts, Veera Dheera Sooran Part 2 was planned to be released before Veera Dheera Sooran Part 1.
Veera Dheera Sooran is an action drama with Theni Eswar as the cinematographer, Prasanna GK as the editor, and CS Balachander as the art director.
SU Arunkumar also directed Pannaiyarum Padminiyum (2014), Sethupathi (2016), and Sindhubaadh (2019).
GV Prakash is composing the music for Veera Dheera Sooran, marking his fourth collaboration with Vikram after Deiva Thirumagal (2011), Thaandavam (2012), and Thangalaan (2024).
The project, which began filming in April 2024, also features Dushara Vijayan and Malayalam actor Suraj Venjaramoodu, who is making his Tamil debut.
In the three-minute title teaser released on Vikram’s birthday in April 2024, the actor is introduced as Kali, a small department store owner. When goons posing as customers try to attack, Kali grabs a gun and shoots them. At the end, he tells a customer her items cost ₹62, hinting that this is Vikram’s 62nd film.
