Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus Thug Life is now available on Netflix, four weeks after the theatrical release.
Thug Life marked the first collaboration between Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam in over two decades, following the iconic success of Nayakan (1987). An action drama co-written by Kamal Haasan, it is jointly produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies.
Sharing the news on X the OTT platform wrote: “It is a battle between Death and Rangaraya Sakthivel, want to see who wins the game? Watch Thug Life, now on Netflix in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.”

Initially, the film was planned to stream on OTT eight weeks after release, however, due to it’s bad performance at the box office, it is now streaming in just four weeks.
According to a report in Deccan Herald, the digital streaming rights for the film have been sold for an unprecedented ₹149.7 crore, making it the largest-ever OTT deal in the history of Tamil cinema.
However, few reports stated that, as the film breached the national eight-week window for a theatrical release, the film’s producer, Kamal’s Raaj Kamal Films International, has faced a penalty of ₹25 lakh.
Action choreography is by Anbariv masters, known for their work on Kamal Haasan’s Vikram (2022). Sharmishta Roy is the production designer and Ekha Lakhani is the costume designer.
The movie boasts a stellar cast, including Silambarasan, Joju George, Ashok Selvan, Pankaj Tripathi, Nassar, Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami Gopikumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jisshu Sengupta, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, and Vaiyapuri.
Music was composed by AR Rahman and cinematography was handled by Ravi K Chandran
